low carb when taking cortisone

I am on 15mg cortisone per day and will be for some time to come unfortunately. My weight is rising, not dramatically, and am trying hard to curb the desire to eat
which is what this drug causes you to do more than average. I'm just wondering if I should be even more vigilant as to how many carbs I consume
because of the weight gain. There is no diabetic clinic where I live in France and my doctor seems bemused when I mention low carb diet.

Hi Maggie

I am also on daily prednisolone and corticoidsteroids do cause weight gain as does insulin. I am following LCHF diet and, even managing to lose some weight albeit a little very slowly. It's tough but doable.
So long as it does not go on I am more than pleased.

I've had an unsatiable appetite for a long time but am controlling it really well on lower carbs and higher fat.

I gained 30 pounds on 60mg. I was so thirsty and hungry all the time. I had lupus that attacked my joins and I was bed ridden for months and that really hindered my exercise and made me feel depressed. So I don't know if part of the prednisone weight gain was due to a depression of being un-mobile and eating for comfort.
