Can anyone recommend a decent low fat hypo treat, currently running on a 3.1 and fancy something nice as a treat, chocolate cake will take ages to kick in, sent from Starbucks!!!!

Hi @O_DP_T1 I know the exact feeling you are having right now, ok so your brain isn't totally fried and a jelly baby/glucose tab won't cut it, here's the magic moment when you can eat what you want..

No don't give in take the glucose, test, ensure you're on the way up before you have the treat, it's not worth it, i've done it a few times and anything else takes too long to absorb, hence why it's best to treat it and ensure you're on the way back up before the treat :)

Cheers Juicyj so whist in the line and hypoing I managed to view the nutrional info on the below and it's 11g fat and 35g carbs so that should do the trick. Oh and it's only 850 cals -lol

Always go for the quick fix hypo remedy first - jelly baby or glucose tabs etc. Anything with a profile like chocolate wit fat in it will take too long to have an affect and sods law it'll kick in after your liver has come to the rescue and you'll get a double hit of glucose sending you into the high stratosphere (kind of!) and then you'll be injecting a correction just when the liver decides it wants to replenish its glucose store and send you crashing back down.

All instructions I have received from my medical team is put sugar only for treating hypos. This ensures brain is accommodated quickly. Any fat at all slows down absorption. I take it you Know this really but got lulled in.

oh the temptation to have something 'nice' when you're at your least clear headed - a bit like having a kebab after a night out drinking - seemed a good idea at the time, come morning and you're thinking what the.........why.........oh!..........

I drink a glass of arrange juice or Lucozade the liquid absorbs quicker than the jelly babies.
