A little confused, have been diagnosed since mid May, commenced diet LCHF and exercise beginning June.
Medicine 2 x 500 Metformin per day.
have dropped weight 14st 11 to 13st 3
Commenced BG testing about 4/5 weeks ago.
All BG's have come back in the normal range, with the exception when I tried some higher carb foods and got a
Couple of readings in the 9s.
Anyway to the point, yesterday had a meeting with some colleagues from Russia and had 4 x double vodkas all before 19.00hrs
Today BG levels
Before breakfast 4.4
Breakfast of cheese on toast burgen soya bread 1. Slice Reading 2hrs later 5.0
Lunch flat mushrooms filled with Camembert and bacon & tomatoe Reading 2hrs later 5.0
Snack sugar free jelly , double cream & blackberries Reading 2hrs after 5.1
Does anyone know if this could still be the alcohol, or is it just the Metformin and weight lose/diet kicking in.

The latter. Your not high carbing and you may not have had a spike from the vodka. Lucky b.......!

Brilliant readings John!

It won't be the Metformin as that does little to reduce sugar levels. (It helps in other ways but not that)
Your weight loss could be kicking in as your insulin resistance improves
I doubt the vodka will still be affecting things by the following lunch time. Although it does have some effect, this is only for as long as it is in your system. It would be long gone by then - or you would be over the drink driving limit still! Lol.

Others may be along to tell me I'm wrong!!

It appears a little tipple, not 4 dbl vodkas is the answer. Had 2 pints of Guinness yesterday, and all BG reading lower than my personal norms.

4.6 2hrs after dinner, 4.7 going to bed 4.9 getting up.

Don't intend to make it a regular habit, but it does make one wonder.

@Indy51,
Thanks for the link, it's basically what I had gathered, and don't intend to use alcohol, as a method of controlling BG, just noticed the effect.

Onward and upward.
