Hi, I m a type two diabetic and wondered if anyone has any advice on eating the 'low sugar' chocolate advertised on the web such as Push Chocolate or Pure Heavenly?

Many thanks,

Bonno

As with anything - check the carbs and what sweetener is used and test against your meter.

Having finally found the nutritional info on the pure dark chocolate (73%) it’s 26/100 carbs. Actually slightly better than other 73% chocolate but I wouldn’t pay the premium price and will stick to Lindt Lidl and Aldi 85% with better carbs and as it’s darker less chance of overeating. I’d say they were aiming at the vegan market more than low carb. Their sweeteners are mainly erythritol (good) and Inulin (which I personally have horrible side effects from but most are ok with) but there’s some sucralose and others in there too.

I prefer a real dark chocolate with minimal real sugar (ie lidl 85%) to any of the highly processed stuff using strange ingredients which can taste awful and have laxative effects.
I tried several of the latter and haven't found one worthy of the taste and money

True, it may take a while to develop the taste for the very dark, but it does come

“Well Naturally” is my go to low sugar chocolate … though not sure its availability elsewhere in the world. I’m lucky that i can eat a decent quantity without the need to bolus.

I am not a dark chocolate fan and their milk chocolate products work for me. But as @HSSS says test to see if it works for you. I have found many low sugar/no sugar confectionary that still spikes my Glucose levels.
