Lucozade tolerance test

We don't all have them, Celast. My fasting was 9 and my HbA1c was 6.5 = diabetic. No need for more.

I keep meaning to do a test at home but never get round to it.

My test when I was diagnosed last year came back at 19 and my HbA1c was 8.

hi Charles! If you were partaking in a Glucose tolerance test at your GP's surgery for example,a result over 11.1mmol would be considered a Diabetic reading so 16 is on the high(er) side. I did one myself many months ago and my 1 hour reading was 'HI' and my 2 hour reading was about 33.4 which is just under my meters threshold and I felt dreadful to be honest

Same here Viv. The problem is eating 150g carbs for 3 days flat to make the test valid... I was diagnosed TWICE. Once in March 11 with an hBA1c of 8.3% but then they forgot to actually tell me so I got diagnosed again in Dec 11 with an HbA1c of 11.3%

I've got to go back in September for another fasting blood test. If I'm not eating 150g carbs a day would that also give a false reading?

I think I'm averaging about 80g a day but had an apple today after a walk as BGs had dropped a couple of mmol and as trying to stabilise them presume this means avoiding troughs as well as peaks!

Will be doing lots of walking in America soon so experimenting with that in mind.

I have never had a GTT. When I go later this month it will be for my first fasting tests for my HbA1c. I am on very low carbs, so would imagine my test should baffle, all except my GP who knows exactly what I have been up too.
