Lump when injecting

Hello everyone!
When injecting levemir in my leg, a lump/bubble appeared instantly and the needle felt stuck. I had to slowly re-angle the needle so I could take it out. As I took it out, the lump/bubble flattened. I am worried that I may have injected into the layer above the subcutanaeous. I pulled an inch as always and I have quite extensive fat deposits under the skin, so I injected just outside the affected area (it's getting increasingly difficult to find a spot to inject in). Does anyone have any idea about what this could be? Thanks in advance for your help! Also, would it matter if the insulin didn't make it to the sub layer? : )

p.s. no insulin came out of the site. and no insulin was dripping from the pen. It seemed like the dose definitely got into the leg.

Hi Thom,

Getting a lump is rare so you hit the jackpot, I have had a few now they generally do dissipate quickly, the important part is that as long as the insulin doesn’t leak and your blood glucose levels are ok then it’s nothing to worry about.

Hi Thom, this has happened to me very occasionally – the last time was just a few days ago actually. Generally it's nothing to worry about and will go away on its own (my one on Monday was around for a few hours).

Hi @thomc_82 ,

That's rather interesting, did the skin bubble look like a small white blister?
I had something like this over a week or so ago wit the lantus?
There was an unusual resistance pressing the button in the pen?
It almost felt like the point on the needle had been pranged causing the insulin jet to come out sideways (thumb over the end of a hose pipe?) as opposed to a jet. Mine went down after an hour or two?
What are your fasting BGs like?
