Has anyone had this before? I checked sugars prior to 45min high intensity aerobic session & read 14.4! Corrected, did the class & checked in car - 5.0. Just about okay to drive 5min journey home. Felt shaky - checked again & 2.9! Dropped so quickly so I had over-corrected! I even lowered my basal to 70% on my pump. What followed was some sort of mad sugar search! Skittles (in the absence of my trusty Jelly Babies or juice), choc buttons, Wagon Wheel & Digestive! I've never quite been in such a rush to consume SO much sugar! The kids thought it was brill as was chucking them stuff too!!!!! T1D is a challenge at times!

Has anyone had this before?
Yup! I SO hate being high that I have had similar experiences to these.... Hope you're feeling okay now, @Medusa41 ! Hugs! I have been trying to train myself to be rather more moderate towards pre- and during-exercise highs, as I'm way more likely to have quick drops post-exercise with correction boluses on board!
:)

Hi @Medusa41 Did you have insulin on board when you corrected at 14.4 ?

Hope you're feeling ok now - it's a pain when that happens, although I do try to take into account my exercise before I correct, so just give a 50% correction instead but it can so easily happen ! Don't forget to stock up on your jelly babies :)

Been there and done that (except I kept all the sweeties to myself and didn't share).
I try to keep a bar (in addition to the fast acting glucose) of some sort with me to eat when I finish my exercise. If my BG has dropped a lot, I eat it without any insulin and test again when I get home.
I say "try". The problem is, I sometimes forget. At least I walk to the gym so not in charge of a car when going hypo.

I hope this doesn't put you off your aerobic sessions: despite the post-gym hypos, I feel sooooo much better after exercise than when I veg on the couch. I think it's endorphins or something.

Thanks @Snapsy - yes fine thanks although just woken up at 2.9! I generally have a different ratio in the summer hols as I do less exercise when the kids are off! Then this week I've done more but kept ratios the same Yes defo think you're right - I got fat too carried away correcting. Thx x

Hi @Juicyj - thanks. No no IOB but think my ratios are a bit 'all over the place' due to me changing them last week for school hols! (Less exercise so more insulin). Yes defo prefer JBs as hypo treatment but the mini 15p bags of skittles were quite effective (16g carb) Good idea re: 50% correction. Thx

Thanks @helensaramay - No definitely don't put me off as been doing these classes for a while & mostly okay. Yes me too - much better when exercising - just can't do as much while the kids are off! I usually take my lunch to eat in the car straight afterwards but I didn't this time
