How you doing without the insulin by the way was thinking of you yesterday and how you were getting along
Hi Lovinglife thanks for asking after my progress, its been 15 days and counting since I had my last insulin injection and (touch wood) things are going pretty well, I would guess my average bg levels have raised by about 1% to 1.5% and I have had a few higher readings than I was experiencing previously but still only up to mid/high 8's so I'm really pleased. I have decided not to take the offer of the Sitaglyptin and to stick with the Metformin for now.
I am still testing but not as regularly now I am off insulin and I know what most foods do to my numbers, I just hope my doctor will still allow me strips on script :|
I never really minded being on insulin as it became part of my routine but it is nice to be able to do day to day things like arranging to meet friends without feeling I will have to eat at such and such a time so my days are less structured than they have been, but I would say to anyone who is about to start using insulin for the first time, it is not anything to be frightened of and if I had to go back on to it at some time in the future it would hold no fears for me now I have experienced it for a year.
