Hi
Since I've gone off the pump for a while (due to site and absorption issues) and back to injections I am feeling a bit frustrated as it's taking a while to get doses sorted.
Please give me some inspiration that good control can be achieved on multiple daily injections. I have high anxiety which doesn't help either.
I am liking the break but need to know it can work.

Have you read ‘Sugar Surfing’ by Stephen Ponder? He’s a doctor with T1 who worked out a way to use a cgm to keep his control exceptionally good. If you can get a libre, or a dexcom, it makes a difference too.
Also, have you basal tested to ensure that your long-acting insulin dosage is right for you? Once you’ve got that right, my consultant advises starting with the overnight levels, then getting the bolus right is much easier.

For me anxiety causes it to be higher than normal. Yours?
How do you relax?

Thanks for reply. Great advice. I haven't read that book. I will look into it.
I have done lots of previous basal testing on the pump but not on mdi. I use cgm and have already noticed I seem to drop around 2am so I have reduced basal slightly tonight to check.

Yes !!!!! My sugars go crazy high when I'm anxious. On the pump I ran temp basals but on mdi it's a bit tricky. I have just been correcting a lot. I use an app that calculates insulin on board so I try not to over bolus.
I find it hard to relax my anxiety is so severe. I try and meditate and practise mindfulness.

Have you tried doing something practical that you have to give your whole thought to, like constructing a pot, a dress, a picture, a reshaped and replanted bed for flowers and veg? Literally ‘taking your mind off it’.
Maybe some pills would help anxiety too? Antihistamines are notably calming. I used to take an antihistamine-based seasickness pill and was always surprised how cheerful it made me about big waves, and it wasn’t just because they no longer made me feel nauseous.
I agree with @ikihun, anxiety makes bs rocket when the Adrenalin kicks in and asks for a liver dump to provide the energy for flight or fight.

Hi. Yes keeping busy with a project is a good idea. I have been trying adult colour therapy books and reading. I'm taking Valium on bad days and am considering antidepressant even though I am not keen on meds as have not reacted well to previous anti anxiety meds.

What basal are you on and when do you take it? Some people switch times or split the dose to stop going low at night and/or high in the morning....

I'm on levemir. I take 10 units at 6am and 6 units at 6pm. Maybe delaying the night dose a bit may help.
