I am at times really hungry type 2 what to eat to keep satisfied I try not to give in and snack I'm also on folic acid for deficiency so feel tired I need ideas for all meals as to what's best to try stay satisfied after eating till next meal im trying so hard not to give in as I'm needing to lose weight and have arthritis

Hi mack76

I base almost all my meals around meat, sometimes with veg. I do a lot of batch cooking stews and casseroles and curries. This means plenty of protein and fat, with a small amount of carb coming from the veg. I tend to eat one large meal a day, usually in the evening. I've found that for this meal I can and will generally eat as much as I want to.

At other times, if I feel the need to eat (I often don't) I will have something like cheese, olives, salami/sausage, or a toasted buttered low carb roll.

The great thing about low carb is that as it's not a calorie controlled way of eating (low calorie doesn't work for me, and the hunger is terrible) in the five years I have been on ~20g carb/day I have never been hungry.

Best of luck

Similar for me. Again, low calorie (which I spent most of my life doing) left me ravenous. Low carb. I can eat as much as I need to not feel hungry. Maybe you aren't eating enough? I too have one meal a day in the early evening because that suits me, but if I am hungry earlier in the day, I can have yoghurt (full fat plain Greek), any meat, fish or eggs done any way, a piece of cheese, avocado, some nuts, or home-made soup. You can eat whatever time it suits on whatever diabetic-friendly foods you enjoy. There is no need to endure hunger.

Yes I like stews and curry so will definitely have to batch cook thanks for your help

Eggs are a great source of folic acid. I caught a recommendation from the 60s - 2 eggs a day if you are healthy, 4 if you are unwell.

As much as it might grate against everything we think we know, it's the fat side of the equation that leaves us feeling fuller for longer.
I had breakfast of sausage (high meat content), eggs and bacon around 8, and don't expect to have dinner till about 6, and I'll feel great all the time in between. It does take some time to re-balance though, your body becomes conditioned to expect a regular source of carb-based fuel, so we all have to find our own path out of that vicious cycle.

The good news is that there are loads of really tasty and filling meals on the way...
