Meaning of LCHF

The carbs, in my case the cals looked after themselves as the weight fell off.
Good luck

I've never counted either!
But it is carbs and higher full fat than you eat now!

Eat to your meter!
It is finding out what particular foods effect your blood glucose levels.
And finding a low carb alternative.

Use a food diary to record what you eat and your blood glucose levels at that time, so you can see what is happening, if and when you get control and get your Hba1c levels down.

Low carb works!

Technically low carb high fat - I'd say most people go moderate fat. This means you can enjoy real butter and cheese, keeping the carbs low will help weight loss - like others I never count calories.

Google Diet Doctor for more help understanding LCHF

Thanks all. Apart from butter and cheese, what else counts as high fat?

avocado and some nuts, care with nuts, some can be quite carbie.... cashews...
Splash extra virgin olive oil over everything... or if you can find one a nice rapeseed oil, some I find really meh...
Bacon
Eggs

It would be advisable to stay away from Rapeseed or other plant based oils like Sunflower oil. If you are going Low Carb High Fat, incorporating Olive Oil and Extra Virgin into your diet is preferable and also coconut oil. Best to go for the good quality ones, but watch the price. A lot of people also don't realise that most vegetable oils contain compounds and are protagonists for higher levels of Omega 6 in your body which is extremely bad and leads to levels of inflammation which the Lchf approach is trying to combat.

and olive oil is not a plant based oil..
please explain issues with Rapeseed oil.

Not sure about too much bacon Hankjam. It's a processed meat and as such is cancerogenic. Add mustard to it and the risk lessons! Chicken breast is perfect - 0 gms!

As for olive oil - Italian organic, extra virgin oil from M and S is gorgeous.

yes but.... bacon goes with eggs so well... :)
with you on M&S EVOO

@hankjam Sorry.. I didnt say Olive Oil was plant based, I was referring to the fact that this was better for a low carb high fat diet.. I'm on it and have successfully lost 28lbs and kept it off.no issues with cholesterol or blood Glucose now either. Many types of commercially produced oils are very poor quality and oxidise quickly which can be harmful to health..Sunflower oil or Canola/Rapeseed in particular when subjected to high temperatures can turn rancid very quickly and produce volatile compounds hazardous to health. Good Quality Olive or Coconut Oils are much better for you in the long run and can survive high tempratures so do not oxidise to the extent of other plant/seed based oils. Look out for research done by Dr Aseem Malhotra and try and see The Big Fat Fix Movie which I would recommend.

Hunter6431 please read the article I link to above. Rapeseed oil has changed in its processing ..... it's extremely healthy.

There is a book called 'Saturated Fact' that is well worth a read.
