Is anyone one eating meat (red included) and sturated fats to keep thier glucose at good levels and had thier ApoB tested? If so can you give your results ?

Hi @WAGR57 are you including those of us on Statins, because they will bring down ApoB numbers. I’m on statins 20mg Rosuvastatins my ApoB results were 0.87g/L lab range 0.59-1.25gL

The issue for me is my Lipoprotein Little (a) results, they were 199 nmol/L - Lab range <100 nmol/L . They have come down with to 172. The Lp (a) . Is purely genetic , it is not affected by diet. It’s a new test that has been rolled out across the world. High Lp(a) s is strongly associated with CVD / and Peripheral neuropathy.

With CVD linked with Type2 and me being Type2 for quite a while now, I've been eating low carb which includes red meat and saturated fat. My believe is red meat and "good' saturated fat are fine for your heart. Lately I have listened to and read articles claiming saturated fat and red meat can increase your ApoB levels. My triclicerides are good, my last test was .8 mmol/L and has been around that range for previous tests. This can indicate my ApoB level is fine but I've never had an ApoB test done so don't really know. My own expierence with high triglicerides was when I drank more alchol and added more carbs to my diet for around 4 months, this increased my cholesterol and my Triglicerides went up significantly. Where I'm live, it's hard to get your Doctor to order ApoB test when they feel I'm in a good place with my Type2. Yet I should stay of read meat and saturated fats. Maybe I'm over thinking this. I'm just trying to see if anyone else out there that's Type2 eats red meat and saturated fats and has had an ApoB test done.

I personally think it’s definitely a good idea to have your ApoB levels tested. Lipid panels only tell you so much. My Triglycerides are very good too they have bounced between 0.5 - 0.6 mmol/Ls . It’s a shame your Dr is so resistive to testing your ApoB levels. And I’m guessing from that you stand no chance of getting your Lp(a) levels checked.
I’m lean and very fit. I do lots of exercise. My diet is Mediterranean , mainly North African and Middle Eastern. I do have Italian and Greek foods, but I cut right back on the rice and eat very little pasta. I can eat new potatoes , the waxy ones, as they barely push my blood sugars up, but the old Russet potatoes, they push my blood sugars right up.
I try and cut out all highly processed foods, and I do limit my red eats as I think they do up your cancer risk. You can’t win really. If you are trying to save your heart and vascular system, then another disease pops up.
