Meat!

Hello. I have found that since returning to lchf I am eating chicken and no other meat. :) I'm enjoying this but just hope I don't get bored with it.
That is what I mostly eat and have done for years as I am not a red meat lover and I don't eat bacon or sausages made from those meats I don't think I will ever get bored with chicken though I love it

If nobody ate animals then there would be only a tiny amount of them left in the world because most animals are bred for eating. Better for them to have a short life - and help humans - than no life at all???
This answers these types of arguments http://www.viva.org.uk/going-vegetarian-vegan/going-veggie/how/20-questions better than I can. Animals want to live as much as we do. They are emotional sentient beings but I won't go into that - this is a forum for diabetes support but if you would like to know more you could start by looking at the website of Compassion in Farming which isn't a vegetarian organisation but shows the pretty awful short life and death of most farmed animals http://www.ciwf.org.uk.
But as I said this is a personal choice and my health as a diabetic is so much better on a vegan diet which was my reason for mentioning it. :-D

When you eat these veggies, do you restrict the amount or could you also eat lots, say half a broccoli head if you were hungry enough?
I can eat a lot of broccoli or cauli and not have raised BG levels, only way you will know if this is case for you is to try it and test BG levels

About the hunger, without going necessarily vegan, you could, as someone else suggested increase your veggies consumption.

When I am not trying to lose weight I can eat lots of beans and green salad without gaining weight (but avoiding the rice etc), my BGs remain fine, however if I want to lose weight I need to stop eating them, so it all depends at what stage you are at.

Also, if you add creamy veggie soups to your meals with lots of fiber (you can add flax or chia seeds and some olive oil or/and a dollop of yogurt or cream), you will feel fuller for longer. Soups are great and easy to make in advance to add to your main meals to make you feel fuller.
