Loving my new pump started in middle of September. Anyone else on this pump?

I was on the medtronic pump 2 and a half years ago and after 5 months at my local hospital i tried to give it back as my sugars were all over. Then i went to Newcastle to see a consultant and he got me sorted within 3 weeks and then asked would i like to go back to my local hospital i told him that i think i will stop with you. After that is was great apart from waking up in the night with the tubing wrapped around my body but that was a small price to pay for better control and eating at whatever time i wanted. Hope you keep up the good work

I had a problem with Carelink at the beginning but I rang the helpline and they talked me through it. Specialist nurse has been brilliant and making changes after looking at my downloaded data and emailing me.

Hi @Sweetheart66 also a 640g user - love mine :). I have short cannulas so no issue with tubing and use a pump belt instead of the clip, it’s woken me once in over 2 years and that was the battery alarm going off so very comfortable with sleep. I like to exercise so I use the temp basal setting for this, I wouldn’t hand mine back although I was very sceptical at first as it took a few months to adjust the ratios and still tweak now, it means a better dialogue with my DSN too as she sees my reports and we communicate on email once a month. Shout if you have any queries :)

I use a Hid In pump belt wrapped around my thigh to keep it under control when in bed.
It's a usual belt but I wrap it round my leg twice.

I found wrapping it around my waist less comfortable and now use this technique when wearing a skirt or dress during the day.

I use a Medtronic, and I can safely say after the initial teething troubles sorting my ratios out, I wouldn't hand it back to the hospital for all the gold in the world. The difference is astounding, I actually feel normalish (for me:confused::confused:) it has to be worth all the work you put in.
Keep up the good work

Hello Sweetheart 66 I too am now on this pump and I am finding the freedom very refreshing but I have found certain places and sites on my wee fat body work better than others. My hands are taking a pounding with bg checking a lot so as to try and get the levels correct but there are many variables. Tubing etc is not really a issue but a problem that has become apparent is this, if you bolus and then bg check say in a hour and you decide the sites not effective, you can’t clear that bolus that may not have been delivered so your pump is taking into account insulin that may not be there. For the first couple of weeks I felt strange ( some say I’ve always been strange ) but then it dawned on my it might be normality. I find it uplifting when my bg readings in the morning are in range, enjoy and onwards and upwards.

@Bud1979 Testing BG an hour after giving the bolus is a little too early to decide if its been effective. I still occasionally get spikes after eating depending on what I eat. I have been bolusing about 20mins before I eat to help reduce this problem.

i vary my prebolus depending on what I am eating and what my meter is telling me
usually it is in the range of 15-20 min before -- but I have been known to pre-bolus 30 minutes before if pre meal BG is 9.0 or above.
( not very often thankfully )
