Meter average VS HBA1c

I fail to be convinced that any formula will accurately estimate an HbA1c for the following reasons, if like me a person rarely tests and a high number of the tests I do are postprandial readings how can any formula estimate an average based on those figures, another case is perhaps the person who only tests their fasting bloods their average plasma are going to be drastically different to mine different again to those who are still testing 4, 6 or more times a day, surely these formulas can't be accurate for everyone.

I'm just amazed that Patches formula got as close as it did, it actually underestimated by .3% in my case. Giving me a 5.5% instead of my actual 5.8% although that was based on a 30 day average, the most my meter gives rather than the 90 day average that Patchs formula calls for

You are of course correct Sid and indeed the Eag formula (not really Patches!) wasn't really devised for people to work out what their HbA1c might be.
It was devised to work the other way round, ie to work out the estimated average from the HbA1c. There are some places including the US that may start to give the is report the Eag rather than the HbA1c.
