Metformin advice

I am Type 2 diabetic and went for my annual medical check some months ago. The practice nurse was so pleased with my blood results, she couldn't believe them. I had to get another blood test for all the usuals and go back for the results. Again, the results were the same and nurse was well chuffed. In that, she cut my Metformin by half, down to one in the morning and one at night. Now it seems that my BG is stabalising around 7.3 to 7.4. By that I mean when i get out of bed in the morning, I test my BG and it is around 7.3. I then have breakfast and test again about four hours later and it is about 7.4. Today for lunch I had cheese sandwich followed by pineapple (it was delicious). I tested my blood about four hours later and found it to be 8.8.
I guess the higher BG level is due to the pineapple. However, what seems to be my normalish level of 7.3 to 7.4 is still on the high side, my question is should I revert back to my original dosage of Metformin?
I called the doctor to ask this question, but couldn't get past the receptionist. She told me the nurse says I should stick to the reduced dose, but I'm not sure.

What are your other readings like? Sometimes we can have higher fasting levels but still run a good Hba1c.

This is my surgery ,,but only my GP chsnges my medication ....
There is a choice practice nurse or GP

Could always see GP to,discuss ....

I wouldn't be happy with a fasting 7.3. I would see Dr about going back on a full dose of metformin.
my fasting is 5.4 and I'm on 2,000 metformin

I would also cut the major carbs, including bread and try and get 2hr post meal under 8 [my target is under 7]

For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. they don’t give up easy

Ideally your fasting should be between 5-7mmol. If you are overweight I would ask to increase the Metformin. If normal weight I would rely on lowering the carbs a bit and seeing how your blood sugar does over the coming months.

My last results on December are as follows and I have no idea what they mean. Perhaps someone can explain:
Total Cholesterol: 4.3 mmol/L
HDL Cholesterol: 1.10 mmol/L
LDL Cholesterol: 1.9 mmol/L
Triglycerides: 2.9 mmol/L
Creatinine: 71.0 umol/L
eGFR: >60 ml/min
HbA1c: 44.0 mmol/mol (6.2%)

it seems your lipids are out, lower HDL, trigs are far too high
A1c a bit high <40 better
good kidney function actually egfr>90 by Creatinine level
