Metformin and type 1 diabetes?

Hey, so what are the benefits of taking metformin for a type 1 diabetic, what's the side effects both negative and positive?

AS I understand it metformin can increase insulin sensitivity. Downsides might be the usual metformin side effects.

Hi. Metformin aids BS reduction by just a small amount when used with insulin. There are no normal side effects apart from any bowel ones that metformin can cause
