metformin and weight gain?

I am on 4 metformin tablets a day along with 48 bovine hypurin isophane and approx 12 - 18 novorapid (on DAFNE)....

if i am not really sure that the metformin is doing anything any more...could i try stopping it......
could it contribute towards weight gain as some of the other drugs to help with insulin resistence do?

Metformin is not known to cause weight gain........in fact quite the opposite. I would think it more likely that it is a combination of Insulin dosage and dietary intake that you need to look at.
