Metformin plus point ?

This may sound odd but since being put on Metformin about 6 weeks ago I have noticed something very strange, my fingernails have started to grow much more quickly and also a lot stronger :-)
I have suffered some of the previously mentioned less desirable side effects but I hope next time I see my DSN I will be able to change to the SR Met. So that should help with the down side. But just wondered if anyone else had seen improvement in nail health?

As a bloke I guess I don't take much notice of my nails but I will do now as i'll tell any women I think may benefit from being tested that it's a positive side of diabetes!

My nails have got stronger, didn't put it down to the Met though, I blamed the extra cheese and stuff I'd been stuffing!!

Regards
Angie

oo - ive not noticed any change in my nails yet (but only on my 2nd week of metformin (2 a day this week). Apart from the dodgy stomach at lunchtime, the very vivd dreams at night since taking my nighttime tablet, I have to admit im fairly impressed with its appetite suppressing activity. I dont think I have not felt hungry for several years - i was constantly thinking about what the next meal was. But since starting these tablets, I have really noticed a difference, and could quite easily not bother with dinner in the evenings - just have a light snack.

Thanks Jax65, my toenails have been bad for years. I started taking Metformin last November for type 2. Perhaps they'll improve now. :?

My nails havent seemd to grow faster. But the white fungal growth on most of my toenails (TMI?) are not on the new growth.
