Metformin is a mild drug in that it doesn’t do much to directly change the effect of food on your levels, it instead works in the background to stop your liver chucking out too much sugar. I take Metformin twice a day, morning time I remember as I have other meds to take, but the evening one I just have a repeating alarm on my phone so I don’t miss It.
I think oatcakes may be too high carb for you, but it’s difficult to say without a reading before you ate to compare. You’re looking to have a reading of no more than 2mmol/l higher post meal but no higher than 7.8mmol/l in any case.
