Did your doctor start the metformin at one a day for a week, then 2 a day for a week then up to 3 a day? A gradual start gives your body time to adjust. Most people have gastric problems at the start of metformin, most of those find it settles down/goes away after a few weeks. Some people never manage to tolerate it. Modified release metformin is better for some people. Maybe talk to your diabetes nurse specialist. Hope it gets better soon.

It's unusual to have problems with modified release Metformin but a few people are unable to tolerate it. You may have to stop taking it and talk to the GP. Metformin never helps that much anyway and there are a few other drugs which work in different ways. Diet is always the highest priority with T2. Have you reduced the carbs in your diet?

Im on a low carb diet. I am. losing weight and my sugars are lowering as im testing. im very sensitive to medication and tend too have every side effect going. diabetic nurse is useless and is actually just a normal nurse. my Gp has said I have been calling too much recently and are monitoring how much I call, so im changing Gps. i feel alone and lost

I was recently diagnose too Type 2. I couldn't get on with Metformin felt nausea and tired all the time, I'm also on Methotrexate injection once a week for psoriasis, so that also makes me feel a bit nauseous. I've now been put on Gliclazide starting on 1 a day not much difference still feel nauseous everytime I get also acid stomach, but not as tired. My main worry is that this med causes weight gain and my aim is to lose Wight ot try are reverse T2 and get off the meds.
