My hair was thinning for at least a year before diagnosis, but after taking Metformin for just a few weeks I did notice my hairbrush needed cleaning off several times a week rather than weekly - though I can't say that it has slowed down now. Early days though.
I did meet someone who's diabetic dog has lost a lot of its fur - poor thing only had hair on its head and was almost bald elsewhere. It needed a woolly jumper.
I am sure I have heard of hair loss before but not with Metformin. It is one of the symptoms of diabetes I believe. Typically hair on the forearms and shins falls out. I Googled it and it sent me right back to another thread on this site.
Yes I noticed my hair is thinner. I don't think it was the metformin.
I think it was the uncontrolled BG.
I can see short hairs sticking up on my head and it's growing back.
I've been to my gp yesterday to discuss Abt metformin..I'm surprised to say it's not metformin that causes my hair thinning..it's rampril, does anyone taking rampril and have the same problem
