Not sure if this is anywhere but side effects with Metformin is stripped away B12 which for those that have likes of NAFLD which is often in with diabetes issues! B vitamins need to be raised not lowered.
Been having sleeping issues as falling over go to bed and still awake hours later.Brought it up with ****** Pharmacist! Who said there is something on it but never proved yadda yadda yad!.
Well someone i know is on them and they had big issues with sleep was impacting there job as shifts and dealt with mental health in a semi lockdown place so had to be on your toes all the time so ended up having to take time off they went back to there quacks and got put on Modified release which sorted it.
Also have a befriender that calls weekly they said they had three family members having same issues so gave that to them so now on Prolonged release which seems to help mind still only get 4-5 hours sleep which seems a diabetes thing also talking to others.

There are quite a few articles been seeing on net about Metformin with other side effects were not informed about?

I'm also on Warfarin as had clots in lungs etc which lowers Vit K.

I’ve been in metformin 14 years and never really had any issues- some people are fine with it - I don’t sleep well but then haven’t slept well for 30 odd years so it’s not the Metformin

Sadly, GPs are horrendously overworked and often do not have time to go through all possible side effects of drugs with their patients.
They always come with a leaflet listing side effects so I see it as my responsibility to inform myself before taking.
If you have thrown away your leaflet for Metformin, they are listed here.

Sure, in an ideal world, the doc would have time to talk this all through with us. But sadly that is not the case.
It is not only a problem with diabetes drugs - my father was given the standard cocktail of drugs to take after a heart attack and he was the one who informed the doc later that the reason he was feeling unsteady after taking them had nothing to do with the heart attack but more to do with the blood pressure lowering drugs they gave him despite not having a high blood pressure before the attack.

I agree, @In Response many doctors just use a standard response of drugs for treating conditions - Diabetes being just one of them.

I too was put on the standard cocktail of drugs after a 3x Cardio Bypass (no actual heart attack). I was on 2 different blood pressure lowering drugs despite having low (not high) blood pressure. The hospital struggled, but ultimately succeeded in getting my low BP higher and my fast heart-rate slower for me to be discharged.
Once out I ditched the BP meds.

I had no end of problems when I was put on BP meds. I had a stumble outside the GP surgery, I was getting out of the passenger side of a car. I miss judged the kerb which was odd in itself as I had never done anything like that previously. I fell smashing my sunglasses and hurting myself and my pride! Another incident I felt like I was going to pass out after walking past the bed, hubby caught me just in time as I said "whoops I think I am going" Never had anything like that before but I knew my BP was all over the place due to stress/diet. Hair loss, skin problems, shaking, heart racing abnormally fast like panic mode, but not in a panic attack at the time. I was so glad to be off them 3 years later after going lchf. My hair has only in the last year or so recovered, and the gp was dismissive of my symptom's of hair loss despite me explaining that I was a qualified hairdresser and knew what I was talking about :banghead:
