Hi,

I have ran out off Metformin (2 tablets Friday evening, 2 Sat morning 2 Sat evening and the same on Sunday. I have been on Metformin since the end of January and have been on 2 twice a day for around 2 and half weeks. I will be getting my new tablets tomorrow. Would this effect my diabetes in anyway?

Hi. Metformin only ever has small effect on blood sugar so missing a day or so will only have a small effect on blood sugar. Diet is always the main way of controlling blood sugar so ensure you have a low-carb diet together with the Metformin when you get more.

I have been on Metformin for 4 months and was always extremely tired, nausea, and dizziness. I took it upon myself to cut my dosage from 2 tablets a day to one in the morning and I have been off the extra tablet for over 8 days and feel a lot better. I have since informed my Dr. Has anyone else out there had severe reactions to Metformin?. Because of large dosage of Steroids,(Panafcortelone) I have difficulty in keeping my BSL under 8, but my steroids are been reduced on regular basis and I'm hoping for a good final result.

Hi Neale, ask to be put on the slow release version of Metformin gives less side effects. I noticed the difference when I changed to this version of pill within a few days

Vote number 3 for slow release.

Was on two x 500 mg normal metformin and found any physical activity sent me hypo.

Switched to 1 x SR and almost no problems at all.
