Midmorning high bloods

Hello :)

Im new here so apologies if this has already been addressed.

I'm 27year old male 5ft10 weighing 68kg. I take 18units of levemir before bed (0 in morning). And novorapid during the day.
I suffer high bloodsugars mid-morning. Here's a few examples of how things go for me...

Wake up 7am- blood sugar between 6 and 9

Breakfast 8am - porridge with milk, dried apricot and fig. 5units insulin

10am- bloodsugar 15.5
(No correction)

12.30- blood sugar back to between 5-8

In the case that I either take more novorapid with breakfast or a correction dose mid morning I inevitably end up below 4.0 by 12.15ish. The mid morning high feels relatively uncomfortable.

What can I do??!!!

Thank you :)

Many of us find we have to pre-bolus (ie. take the insulin before the meal) to give the insulin time to kick in, so you may need to start doing that. Some need to pre-bolus by 30 mins, some less, some have to do it every meal, some just for certain meals, so you may need to experiment to find out what suits you best.

For example I have to pre-bolus by 10-15mins before breakfast (I'm using Fiasp not Novorapid, Fiasp is mostly faster acting), but for lunch and dinner I take it just before I eat - as I say you'll need to experiment cos everyone is different
