No they make an observation of a clinical condition in a professional capacity which implies no subjective judgmentalism.

And yet no one thought to test me because I showed no sign of this 'clinical condition' but still had the underlying condition that can for some have a symptomatic and observational sign. It can work both ways. As for being judgmental, my DN was definitely showing signs of this at my consultation at diagnosis when she referred to my dietary habits of which she had no knowledge whatsoever.

So, their jobs could be done by a computer. (Ref. discussions at the Royal College of GP's this week, who thought they brought judgements to health matters.)

The judgement that they repeat over and over again on Twitter is that the only problem with their rotten guidelines is that lazy, fat slobs don't follow them properly. If these idiots would only follow their orders, all would be well. Not much humility or rational thinking going on there.
 
None. And diabetes treatment failure will always be the fault of the patient. The treatment was a success but....

Have to say I did have a really encouraging talk with my GP recently.
 
I think I need to remember that the medical profession, including dietitians, are teaching what they have been taught to teach, and what they are paid to teach.

Blaming the ground troops for carrying out the orders of the High Ups seems unfair to me.

Remember how long it took to get the view on smoking being good for us overturned? We are fighting to save lives though our voices and experience and need to use diplomacy and keep dialogue going, not drawing battle lines and alienate the medical personnel.
 
So, they can fall back on the old "I was only following orders" defence? How about critical thinking and listening to your clients?
 
It doesn't cost anything to listen to the patient does it? That's what Edward Jenner did and it helped him to develop the smallpox vaccine. That's what Dr Unwin did and it helped him to help other patients discover low carb.

If a patient says 'The diet you gave me has made me put on weight and I have followed it to the letter' any medical professional should listen and try to help. Instead the majority label that person as lazy, stubborn, stupid, a liar, a glutton etc etc...just because the **** advice is wrong! Grrrr
 
I do think Eddie has played an absolute blinder with his tweet. If he'd said, "Here's a lovely bunch of ladies, who I don't fully agree with", nobody would have taken any notice, but as he has picked an approach which hits a raw nerve for some/many, we are now well down page 6 of the thread. And I thought he was banned all those years ago.

Health care workers who are open minded and willing to listen are no help to us if they then get sacked for not doing the job they are paid for.

In the 6 years I have been on this forum, things have moved on this forum from "carbs are OK, Low carbers are mad" to "Carb intake needs looking at", and the rise of the low carbers

It takes time, and patience to move the NHS juggernaut. And its happening, as events in recent weeks have shown. Huge victories have happened. Getting militant and alienating the medical profession is not going to help keep that momentum going.
 
My bet is that dietitians will be the very last bastion to fall. They claim to be "evidence based" but that is the furthest thing from the truth when it comes to their socalled "profession". Adapt or perish, but I think their institutions won't let the individuals. So, if they go the way of the dodo, on their own heads beit.

I think making a mountain of a molehill worsens the situation.
Sure the guy made a valid point (re: poor dietary advice from the BDA in a bad fashion) but to go over the top and keep shouting foul is making the problem worse.
Why don't the mods just close this down it is not helping anyone.
