Hi guys. I was wondering if you could help me out....

Yesterday I was potentially going to miss my daily dose of victoza. I didn't miss it in the end, mum to the rescue and all that! :) But it did make me think about what effect it would have to miss a dose. Im type1 but have pretty bad insulin resistance so I've recently gone on 1.2mg of victoza on top of my insulin and metformin and as a result my insulin doses are much lower than they were.

Would I just get a raised blood sugar for a while?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Having never missed one and stab myself religiously at 8am on the dot daily, I've never given it much thought; but, I was told it has a half life of around 18hrs, so 36hrs would have passed before you were completely drained of it.
Personally I would inject the 1.2 as soon as I could (noting the time) and then adjust my timings each day by an hour from that time until I was back to 8am again.

I can't remember if there is a help line number in the pack but I'm sure Google will find it for you if it really worries you.

If you do get a definitive answer, please share it with us so we all know where we stand with a missed or very late dose.

This is from the leaflet with Victoza - hope it helps:

If you forget to use Victoza®
If you forget a dose, use Victoza® as soon as you
remember.
However, if it is more than 12 hours since you should
have used Victoza®, skip the missed dose. Then take
your next dose as usual the following day.
Do not take an extra dose or increase the dose on the
following day to make up for the missed dose.

Doesn't really tell you what happens if you miss a dose, but i suspect your bloods might go a bit high, but one missed dose shouldn't effect you too much.

Thanks for the info and ideas. I was more interested than I was worried. If it ever actually happens I'll definitely post my experiences. :)
