Hi. I am reluctantly posting this because I have not seen a moderator on line in the early hours over the past few days...save one...who never replied to me. Has there been some change to where to find one..or is there another way besides looking on the main page at who is on line? I was awarded a pile of trophy points about 8 or 9 days ago for no reason I could find, including first message kind of stuff and all the early trophies I got quite some time ago. I also think my overall totals may be lower than they were. Are there any issues with this...can somebody respond please?

@pleinster I noticed the same thing with trophy points a week or so ago. Not sure if this is a change or not, but using you as an example, next to your post I see you have "Likes Received: 3,574" but when I click on your name and look at your brief profile, I see "Ratings Received: +4,166".

Hi Pleinster - As Mods we are online when we can, and often it works out fairly well, over the peak hours of site use. I think our online status can sometimes be skewed, if we leave a machine logged into the site .

Anyway, to the trophy points: There was a bit of chat about it when many folks noticed a flurry of progressive awards appearing on the same day. I could be a bit off, but my take is that was a collateral impact of some background site code maintenance. I have no idea if I have more or less points as a result of the exercise. I never really paid it any heed. I do think it's fair to say any changes appear to have been site/member population wide, so any differences are likely to be the same for everyone.

If you would like any additional context or clarification, I think CaptainWard would be the correct person to tag, in the first instance.

@Winnie53 as I understand it, 'likes' received refer to just that, when someone hits the 'like' button on one of your posts. The 'ratings received ' refers to any of the buttons being clicked on one of your posts - including 'like'. That's why they are different.

Thanks @Goonergal

I assumed that to be the case after noting the difference, but thought it might be an explanation for the perceived change in pleinster's ratings. After looking into it, I learned that "liking" a post is more valuable than any other rating. Not concerned, but surprised.

I dunno, I always prefer to eject the Warp Core

Sorry about that @pleinster - couldn't resist.
See? I am online in the wee small hours, but I must confess it is for as short a time as possible, having woken up starving and nipped downstairs to raid the fridge.

Re your query, I think many? all? of us had our Trophy Points adjusted or reset at the same time. I came online to find a shedload of notifications about them, but they were old ones, and I just sort of shrugged. @CaptainWard may be able to give a fuller answer, but I suspect it was a glitch.

In the web world, whenever I receive a lot of favorable feedback (ie; likes, thumbs up, stars, etc..), I assume that people finally understand me. Negative feedback, however, must be a computer glitch of somekind. ;)

I watch too much Doctor Who.

Still, it must have worked since the flow of trophy points has stopped.

Ah. Sorry to say...Dr Who, is on the same bus route for me as Harry Potter, Star Wars and Sam Smith...I just never got on these buses in a cunning ploy to avoid pain in the head and soul.

Try changing the polarity.

So sorry to be pedantic but surely you mean......." reverse the polarity"?
And if 2 of you do it at the same time that just confuses the polarity.....

Sorry couldn't help myself....runs for cover.

Tony

I would like to know what is the point of the trophy points?
I asked this on another forum, and the admins said they did not serve a useful purpose.

I used to put mine up for sale and or swap them for beer every now and then. I put the for sale sign in the Status Message box in my profile.

You don't have to apologise for being a pedant, we are a tolerant bunch. If I change the polarity what other result is possible than to end up with it reversed?

Who is Sam Smith? Have I missed one?

Polarised sort of means having two ends like North and South (These are poles you see, get it get it?). Advancing that sounds difficult but I'm game. Just send me the instructions.

Light the blue touchpaper and retire immediately............lol
