I remember watching the mods and rocker seaside riots on the news.
I'm 61 so just missed that side of life and instead arrived just in time to be a hippy.
I'm an ex-biker and was heavily into rock/heavy rock music, never had a problem with the Mods and never understood why both groups would want to fight each other.
The History Man. Keep the faith, NosherMod! Into Nortern soul and Motown, too busy to be bothered with the other tribes. But some early hippies were a pain!
It was into my late teens when skinheads evolved, and I can remember them as not being racist or associated with neo Nazis. In fact because of the music, they had more in common with anti racial sympathies than anything else. They became politicised because of huge unemployment in the Thatcher era.
Fun days hah!
Still wear Ben Sherman shirts and have a Harrington! Walked past Top Man, and there they are in the window, latest fashion again. Good design never goes out of fashion.
Love it!The History Man. Keep the faith, Nosher

The skins were into Ska music ... black music.
Most Ska bands of the time had black and white musicians in the band.
Didn't it all start with the teddy boys and, erm, another 'group'?
Canvass bright yellow!LOVE flairs. And loons. (Just balancing the picture there)
Yeah my main late night hang out was a west Indian club in Moss Side called The New Reno Club... I couldn't remember the name for a moment there! If you look at the really popular group, ub40, (wonder how they got their name?) they were a brummie group. Some great music.
Madness, they had their background from ska. Playing to the London mod scene.
We used to go the Top Rank in Liverpool, and we danced and mingled with everybody no matter what colour you were.
