I am wondering how many MODY subtypes there are on this forum, being rare breed apparently. Also believe so many T1 & T2's are wrongly diagnosed! Had a year of hell in 2025 as I was put on to Insulin and could not control my BG's. My Consultant suggested a genetic test for MODY ... I was positive subtype HNF1A. I am now on 20mg of Gliclazide and BG's are stable. The Insulin caused me to gain weight which I am trying to lose :-( My whole family are now being tested, and we already have positive family members, some are on a cocktail of diabetic meds... unnecessarily. I wish it was more recognised especially with the GP's! I thought I was T2 since 2005 and was put on Metformin until it disagreed with me and then Trulicity which was much better, but due to the sudden demand in GLP-1's I was taken off of it saying my BMi was not high enough 27.8 and wrongly put me on Insulin, BG's all over the place! Ive only been on the Gliclazide since December 2025 so will see how I go. Sleep is not great but not sure if this is related. Would be good to hear from other MODY members.
