So I finally got a call back from my diabetic centre and they told me to stop taking the glicazide completely and they also believe I have mody which is maturity onset diabetes of the youth. I don't know much more at this stage but I'll be going in next week to find out more but it's absolutely good news

While I agree that you should call them yourself if they are too complacent to call you. That said, nothing will help you more than arming yourself with information about your own health and about what your levels are and what you are eating. Nice to know you are off the Gliclazide...I stopped taking it once I saw my blood sugar levels drop with low carb dieting alone. All the pill did was give me nightmares. Good luck.

Hi!
Do you know what type of MODY you are? I gather that the meds you were on were leaving you too low (that is dangerous!). I hope you're being well followed now by someone with some expertise. As a MODY3 person who is on the brink of needing tablets, but doesn't need them yet, I'm happy to share any notes on how to manage things through diet/activity and some patterns I've noticed in terms of how things seems to work (or not). If you have a different type of MODY (i.e. mutation on a different gene/not MODY 3), I won't be of much help however.

All the best,
Rodney (HNF1A mutant)
