More confusion ahead for Cholesterol?

MPE you are saying it is kind of like a flat tyre on a car it still carries the same amount but just can not drive properly?

Just as well I don't seem to have that much HDL in the first place:) plenty of LDL though :-(

It's unusual for either to actually be measured. More commonly total cholesterol and HDL-C are measured. Then a formula (which know to be invalid for insulin resistant people) is applied to guestimate LDL-C. HDL-C and LDL-C probably don't mean that much, unless they are LOW.

Measuring the number of HDL (or LDL) particles (along with their sizes) requires a different set of tests. (Which are considerably more expensive.)

LDL quantities and size profiles are useful for determining CVD (ischemic stroke) risk. The amount of cholesterol being carried by any lipoproteins typically is not.

Coppied that MPE along with lot of other info going to quote it to my dr on tuesday.
MPE do you have any detail on which papers or where the items you put up here above come from please...l can hit my dr with a bit more than simple quotes.
Thanks
