A blogpost by Tom Naughton on the statin wars - well worth reading:

http://www.fathead-movie.com/index.php/2016/10/03/why-the-save-the-statins-campaign-will-fail/

The comments are pretty good too - especially the ones lampooning the ADA for their dietary advice :D

And another blogpost on whether statins actually work and why they stopped working after 2004 ;)

http://roguehealthandfitness.com/do-statins-work/

I really think it's gonna be hard for Sir Rory to continue with his Canute impressions for much longer o_O

I refuse to take statin drugs because it gave me short term memory loss. My doctor's cynical question " Would you rather risk a heart attack for no memory loss?" My reply "Forgetting my wife's name (again!) is a fate worse than any heart attack!":nailbiting:

probable just giving you the cheapest tablet...the cheaper drugs normally have side effects...the more expensive the risk nearly always drops off....as a rule of thumb, like ibuprofen for ache's and pains as arthritis? normally gets this ****....mum finally got a more expensive drug(because she moved to france, they even CURED her cancer, not remission but cured) 1 tiny pill a day and no problems at all and 10 times more effective....do some research on the statins and look alot closer at the drugs available and what you can get in england....hope that helps.. :doctor::bookworm:

Drew, I absolutely agree, it is all about cost and not how effective the drug is. I read elsewhere on this site that surgeries are paid to prescribe stations... tells me all I need to know. Jenni
