After my post yesterday "Doing everything right.....etc" I have better news. When I saw the Diabetic Nurse yesterday nothing had changed with my BG level since I was first diagnosed. She advised doubling my Metformin to four tablets per day and gave me a Freestyle Lite BG Monitor. This morning I picked up a prescription for 1 x Gliclazide per day.

This morning I checked before any food and was down to 11.3 only having had the Metformin. I took my first Gliclazide at lunchtime and have just checked my BG level again two hours after my meal and it is down to 8.2 - hope I don't have a faulty monitor LOL!!

I'm really freaked out about needles so my husband did my finger prick test last night and this morning and I really didn't feel it. So, as it is "pub night" tonight for him, I thought I'd give it a go.
Hey - I did it, not only that, I didn't get a big enough blob the first time and had to do it again.
Feel like I have really achieved something.
