Morning testing

Hi, a newbie about 2 months type 2 by diet.. and glucose monitoring testing.

My q is...i'm not keen on waking and waiting 30m to test.. and that being my new am routine. I much prefer an ordinary morning ish ie a cup of tea and i would normally have bfast....is monitoring first thing necessary?

I'm ok with having a cuppa and maybe a small malted milk biscuit (low carbs) ...and then testing before any proper bfast...but will this skew readings significantly. I understand sleeping time is kind of fasting so i will get a different result but am hoping to cling on to days that dont start with glucose monitoring...am ok with it the rest of the day.

Opinions please, thanks

I don’t test the minute I get up! I’ve got other things to do first. I usually go to the loo, make my bed, go downstairs sort my dogs out then when that’s done I test and inject my insulin.

I think the most effective testing regime is a consistent one, so you can look for patterns as well as testing certain foods/meals. I choose to test as soon as I wake up and before and after certain meals. Can I ask why you wait 30ins after you wake up?
