Hi all
Nearly 3 weeks ago, I was put on 2.5mg Mounjaro and initially things were OK. Although there was the initial feeling of being washed out the day after I had taken a jab, generally to start with, side effects were simple like manageable nausea and one or two loose stomach issues. Sugars are right down from 9 to 5.6 and I have lost 6lbs. However since starting, I was also told to stop Sitagliptin and increase my Metformin CR tablets to 4 a day. Metformin has never worked well with me causing serious stomach issues but these past 3 days I have had terrible stomach issues again leaving me never far from a toilet.
I have decided to monitor my sugars closely and reduce my Metformin back to 2 a day in the hope it helps to settle my stomach as I know there is a direct link between Metformin and my stomach issues in the past.
I am intrigued as to what others' thoughts might be? Have any of you had similar experiences? I know when I get to my 3 month review I will certainly be discussing this but maybe I should go to the Dr sooner?

Hi there Gozza...

I note that you're (apparently?) not seeing your doctor until
you're due a 3-month review. Can I ask who said "... to stop
Sitagliptin and increase my Metformin CR tablets to 4 a day"?

Briefly, I'd say, yes, by all means see your doctor as soon as
possible, as your medications are obviously causing you some
degree of distress—both physically and emotionally.

Take care. :)

Hi AusGeoff

So it was the diabetic specialist at the surgery that stated my next review is 3 months in. She also said that Sitagliptin should not be taken with MJ so that it why it was dropped and the Metformin increased. 4 days ago I decided to go back to my old dosage of 2 Metformin a day and so far, my sugars have remained controlled and my stomach distresses have ceased - which works for me as it means my day to day life is no longer disrupted to the same level.
I am starting 5mg this Saturday so if things continue to go as they are, I am happy. Weight is steadily dropping at a healthy rate so all good in my mind.
