Hi there,

Hoping for some Guidance please?

I was told that I was able to eat as prior to diagnosis once I had delivered my baby.

They are now 4.5 weeks old.....

I have found myself to be incredibly thirsty over the last two weeks? I am however breast-feeding so may be down to this? OR the diabetes hasn’t actually gone away?

I have started to test my blood over the last 24 hours with a verio flex and what numbers are deemed ‘normal’?

I got a 6 something before dinner, 8.9 two hours after - Through the night it was 6.something, 5.6 on waking and 6.9 after brunch....

What are anybody’s thoughts or guidance please? THANK YOU!!!!

8.9 after eating is not normal - an increase of less than 2 whole numbers is advisable, but I aim to be in the 6s, or the very low 7s just once in a while. You should be speaking to someone at the 6 week check - in these strange times you might not actually see anyone - but it might be an idea to report your readings beforehand, and not to let things go on without testing your Hba1c.

Hello and welcome,

I agree with @Resurgam that as it may be quite difficult to see your normal health professional continue using to take readings and being careful with carbs seems a good idea at the moment. I'm not sure how normal medical issues are being dealt with- but as always your health is more important to you than anyone else. With the care of a baby you are ;ikely to be more exhausted than ever so taking the best care of yourself is good.

Congratulations on your baby and enjoy your time with him/her. It's a good reminder that the world hasn't ended- there are still wonderful things happening- a baby's first smile is such a wonderful thing.
