HI @Hullasmehta_ and welcome to the forums. As a fairly insulin resistant T1 (thanks T2 dad) I find that the easiest way to keep my weight and insulin levels from ballooning is to go to a lower carb diet.

Hi there and welcome. I think you are asking for advice about weight loss essentially and as others have said too many carbs for your body to cope with (along with the insulin required to utilise the carbs eaten) may make a person gain weight. If insulin resistance comes in to it too, then it's a double whammy! Would you mind telling us a typical days food?, that could help us to suggest some switches if needed, etc. x

It's not always true that T1s can eat what they like.

I think when people say this they mostly mean in terms of yes we can, in that we can manually use insulin to combat rising glucose from food, meaning we can eat as a non diabetic might eat. Of course, most of us know that there could be a price to be paid trying to do that because trying to emulate a working pancreas by exogenous injections is impossible and can have a detrimental effect on us. Also, any person, diabetic or not could 'eat what they like' because it's a choice, but they too may have to suffer the consequences of eating in a way that's not good for them.
