Mulberry Extract (Zuccarin)

Hi all,

In a health shop this morning my friend spotted a supplement called zuccarin - mulberry extract. The packaging states "improves postprandial glucose tolerace" and "helps maintain a healthy blood sugar level after meals and helps reduce absortion of sugars and starch".

Has anyone tried this or can you point me in the direction of any research on mulberry extract and blood sugar or diabetes?

I read in Dr Bernstein's book that high levels of vitamin C can interfere with test strips and result in misleading lower blood sugar readings. Wondering if this stuff has a similar effect?

Thanks!

People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
No idea if it is any good at all. I never touch supplements or 'health' foods - personal choice.

There is information about it on the net in many places, most just selling it and obviously 'puffing' it like mad. Good for all complaints apparently ??? Do a search Google/Yahoo etc and see the many links, most with lots of information.

I have 'bumped' this up to see if we have any users of the stuff with any more useful information ?

Thanks Cuglia,

I did a wee search but like you say it's mainly folk selling it!

Hopefully someone will have tried it and can report in....
