Muscle pain

I've been type2 for just over a year and take 2 x 500mg metformin daily and statins.
For the last month I have been having problems with muscles. I am getting strains/sprains of different muscles (arms, hip/leg and now neck) for no obvious reasons. I walk daily as exercise, which is now being disrupted by muscle pains. I usually go to bed and wake up with a pain.
Is this a common diabetic problem?
Has anyone else suffered similarly? TIA

Many reports of muscle pain on statins.. put pain and statins in the search box at the top of the page..

Hi. I would suspect the statin and not the diabetes. I would stop the statin for short period to see if the pain recedes; perhaps check with the GP first. If it does then discuss actions with the GP. Note that some GPs are in denial about statin induced muscle pain so be prepared.

I took statins for only a few weeks and I have an intermittent pain in my leg muscle which is not going away some weeks after stopping taking it - sometimes I feel that I am dragging that leg, and that part of my leg feels colder than the matching bit on the other side. If it was a persistent pain I'd suspect thrombosis, but it isn't that. My memory has deteriorated most annoyingly - but the brain is made of cholesterol, so something which reduces it seems bound to cause problems. I stopped taking the statin and the Metformin too when I lost the car in the supermarket car park just before Christmas, and bought everything twice as well.
If I start to take statins again the Devil will be skating to work that morning.

I have been tried on 4 different types of statin and they all give me muscle and joint pains. I refuse to take any more. I felt much better within a week of stopping them
