so I have this girlfriend i met about 6 months ago. she is a type 1. she told me she hadn' been taking of it for awhile... she been diagnosed at 6 years old. she told me no-one cared, so I told her I did and I would help her. at first it was annoying and frustrating at times for her but She could walk for a couple hours and enjoy activity. later on it became a bit much on her mental health... the pain just became too much... I didn' know and she didn't know that is was this bad at all. she told me it's been some time since she' felt her legs, but now she can and they hurt. ling story short... after over 15 hospital trips. like 18 doctor apointments and 4 months later the pain has travelled to her abdomin.

the doctor at first told her to to take some anti depressants, gabapentin, get exercise, keep track of her bloo sugar. her A1C to start was 13.0 now it is better but still. she now can' sleep, at times barely eats and feels sick, had to quit her job and is bed ridden alot. she does do alot of exercise but this pain is alot on her mentality. for the first time because she left town for a bit to see her mom she came back with some bed soars or cuts on her feet that I have been cleaning. any tips for that would be helpful. anyways.

so my problem is her neuropathy. the pain in her abdomin/back (which could be half stress). im not sure where to go from here. she had a tens machine but doesn' use it much. she used to smoke alot of pot but now only eats it at times for pain. we both don't smoke anymore. she complains Bout her waist alot, a burning feeling everywhere. pain in her hands, back shoulders feet legs. it's really sad. we notice about 200-300 mg of thc helps with a bit of cbd 20mg-60mg. seems to be the main helper. she had a bladder infection we found out 3 weeks ago but has taken antibiotics but I'm wondering if they didn't work and that she has a bladder kidney infection or what I hear gallstones alot on here...

I just want to help her in anyways. I do like everything for her these days when she cant. I need her back to being able to take care of herself. she's on ei disability to help her get through this but it's gonna run out very soon.

she was prescribed 100mg gabapentin but now is on 800 for the last 2 weeks. we haven't gotten that much results from it and the thc pills are expensive at times.

if anyone knows any tricks to reverse, treating, or reducing the pain shes in I'm all ears and desperate. she's had a rough life and doesn' deserve this. no-one truly does. I know hot baths, b12, vitamin d, exercise, all that but someone's gotta have some tricks to the trade here. I don't believe diabetes is truly uncurable. there's something on this earth for everything.

Thank you in advance for reading.

God this forum can be a hard read at times. I am so sorry for what she is going through and you yourself of course.

I'm sure you'll get a flood of advice from Type 1s, they will be along soon.

I can't offer any advice on any of the things you mention, I just wanted to say that it's nice to know she has someone in her life who clearly cares so much about her.

It may also be worth removing any mention of the use of certain substances; some people who might otherwise be able to offer great advice may be worried about getting involved in a discussion where the legality is dubious! Not that anyone would judge I'm sure - I've had that conversation with my old mum whose quality of life is shot due to arthritis and pain.

Hello @Moveski Welcome to the forum :)

Do you have much support from your diabetes team to help her ? I don't have any specific advice I can give you on your girlfriends condition although I would suggest having a read of Dr Bernsteins - Diabetes Solution, it's written by a type 1 who was suffering complications from his condition, he's been successful in reversing his complications and his book may help build your knowledge, some of his methods are pretty extreme in regards to diet, but the book itself is a good read.

I know it must be hard for your both but it's heartening to hear about someone who cares so much about their partner, so I hope you get the support you need to help her cope better with this.

You have mentioned the cost of medicines, may I ask where you are based? You are under no obligation to say but this is an international forum with members who coukd advise on the situation in your country.

As has been said above, I'm sorry I have no advice but I do think your gf needs to get her condition sorted andquickly. Best wishes.

hey guys. sorry for the real late reply. it's been a handful dealing with this situation... she was on gaba pentin and today decided that it made her sick and caused some pain so she stopped taking them. cbds and thc helps.

I live in Vancouver Canada so the pills are 2$ for 20mg of cbd and 7$ for 100mg of the and 10$ for 200mg.

the combination of thc and cbd works best but she's still taking Tylenols.

she now has decided to stop the cbds and thc pills for a bit and is resorting to smoking once or twice a day.

it's really her mental state which is hard to deal with. her anti depressants I don't think are working correctly.

she takes organic cinnamon daily as well as alpha acid lipioc, b12, seal oil and cayenne pepper. we heard cinnamon and lipioc acid are keys to helping. oh and also a good amount of vitamin d!

sorry again for the late reply guys it's really been a hectic time
