My body suddenly needs 250%+ insulin

Hi all,

Since 2 days, I have to rise my insulin doses, eat less carbs, my ratios which are usually around 1:25-1:30 are now at 1:10 and still with some high blood sugar values. Nothing has change in the type of food that I eat, and I haven't changed my sports habits, which I control a lot. Does this situation ever happen to you? What causes have you found? My most logical guess is that I have an infection that is asymptomatic and that it might go away in a few days or more. The thing is I feel very tired, very low-energy, I can barely focus on my work and feel kind of dizzy, but to me this looks more like consequences of my "super high insulin resistance / higher blood sugar values" than the cause for it.

Anyways, if you have similar situations in mind, please share!! Thanks!

the same thing happened to me few moths ago. I don't know what caused it but it lasted a week. I would seek some medical help, test for ketones and drink PLENTY of water. It really helps. Hope you feel better soon :)

Typically that sounds like going down with something, or the results of excessive exercise causing tissue inflammation. I've experienced those symptoms with both.

Thanks to all for the reply. Regarding a cold or something like that, it is just bizarre that I have no cold symptoms since the begining. @tim2000s , how long did it last ?

There does seem to be a lot of viruses going around this year everyone I work with seems to have suffered from something, I've had a couple of bouts myself and it sent my blood sugers crazy one morning my bg was 18 for no reason other than illness, I took more insulin and tested more often and after a few days everythings back to normal, Hope you get better soon!

Yes, sounds like inflammation going on. My insulin needs go up when I have an infection. Keep an eye on it and see the GP if needed.
