My Dad - Problem with feet and legs

Hi

My dad is 62 and was diagnosed T2 around 2 years ago.

He takes metformin and the one beginning with a G(?)

He sort of has taken it seriously for the past couple of years food wise, however he has always been a drinker and continued to drink lager, not a lot, but a few beers every couple of days.

The bottom of his legs and feet have turned a faint purple colour and he has little feeling in his feet. His previous doctor didnt really do a lot so I moved him to my surgery where we have a specific diabetic Dr and nurse in the hope that they can advise him further. This has only just happened and as he was taken into hospital they havent really had a chance to get their hands on him.

He is presently in hospital with pneumonia, but is being sorted out and they are going to X-ray his legs/feet this week to see whats happening.

When he does come home I am just wondering if there is anything I can do, or make sure he does to try and bring his feet back to some sort of normality?

I bought him a circulation booster for Christmas so I am hoping that might help in some way, but is there anything more we can do for him?

Thanks.

Sorry to hear the circumstances surrounding your dad Daz, but check with his doctor or consultant first before allowing him to use the circulation booster as this may not be suitable for diabetics or for your fathers leg condition.

Thanks Nigel.

I did wonder about the use of it actually with his current situation. I will look into it further now.

The fact that the hospital are looking into his feet/legs is a good sign so Im sure they will do what they can, I just wondered if I could help, but I will await further news of what they plan on doing before trying to help myself.

Hi Daz, sorry to hear about your dad, I've got no advice to offer, but just wanted to say I hope your dads feeling better soon.
