Hi @johnboy4809
Not the nicest half term ever then. Welcome aboard, we have a section for parents which might help. Feel free to ask any questions. Evie will soon get the hang of stuff and you’ll all becarb counting pros before you know it.
Huge hug to all your family.

Hi @johnboy4809 ,

Welcome to the forum.

Was diagnosed myself at 8 but during the summer break..
Bit of a metal head myself & gigged in your favourite city.

Yep, appreciate the shock with diagnosis. Ask away, no question is too trivial.
Normal is achievable.

Yer kid will do great! :)

@Diakat thanks, we did manage a trip to London on Sunday so they still got to meet toothless so half term ended on a high, was a little scary taking her out but we found carb counting pretty easy today as everywhere displays the info. lucky me and the wife are doing slimming world to get healthier so carb counting is now just something for the whole family and it means more family meals together which can only be a good thing

@Jaylee thank you too and yeah she's already doing her finger pricks and wants to do her own injections as soon as she can so she's taking it all in her stride. wow gigging in Barcelona, bet that was amazing, your band still going?

Hi, I’m so sorry that your daughter has been diagnosed with type one. Bless her, it must have been a shock for you all. I wanted to let you know that are a couple of book titles that Robinredbreast helpfully put in another area of the forum. I think it is books and product reviews. I would have linked them but I have no idea how to do that on here.
I remember seeing they were available on Amazon.
There is so much to learn and take in for you all, but don’t worry you’ll all get the hang of it, even after more than 30 years I am still on a learning curve.
Anyway, you’ve come to the right place! People here offer lots of support and advice if you want it and they are very informed about diabetes. I have learned a lot since I joined the forum last year and I really wish I’d found it earlier.
Check out the books and I’m sure there are more on Amazon both for kids and adults too.
Sorry, don’t mean to keep plugging Amazon.
I live abroad so it’s my go to for books.
There are threads for parents with type one kids too... so you will have the chance to chat to others in your exact position and share experiences which is always positive.
Good luck and let us know how you are all getting on

If she wishes to inject? Let her.. (Under supervision.) I know I was banging them in pretty much after getting out of hospital. My mum's veiw at the time was, I gotta do it sooner or later.. :)

The band? Is pretty much all but no more. Though there is still "stuff" out there.
I do still play in a couple of other bands these days. One of which has ex members from the "NWOBHM" aforementioned outfit..
