Hi all, so joined here as we had a bit of a different half term, my eight year old daughter was dinking a-lot more then usual so a trip to the doctor ended up in hospital, she's got type 1, we are just now settling into integrating this into our day to day and looking to learn as much as I can about this to help make her life continue as normal.
Hi, I’m so sorry that your daughter has been diagnosed with type one. Bless her, it must have been a shock for you all. I wanted to let you know that are a couple of book titles that Robinredbreast helpfully put in another area of the forum. I think it is books and product reviews. I would have linked them but I have no idea how to do that on here.
I remember seeing they were available on Amazon.
There is so much to learn and take in for you all, but don’t worry you’ll all get the hang of it, even after more than 30 years I am still on a learning curve.
Anyway, you’ve come to the right place! People here offer lots of support and advice if you want it and they are very informed about diabetes. I have learned a lot since I joined the forum last year and I really wish I’d found it earlier.
Check out the books and I’m sure there are more on Amazon both for kids and adults too.
Sorry, don’t mean to keep plugging Amazon.
I live abroad so it’s my go to for books.
There are threads for parents with type one kids too... so you will have the chance to chat to others in your exact position and share experiences which is always positive.
Good luck and let us know how you are all getting on
