My day

I would thoroughly recommend 'Waist Disposal: The Ultimate Fat Loss Manual for Men' by Dr John Briffa which is low carb. In fact I'd thoroughly recommend it for anyone ! Also his blogs on drbriffa.com and YouTube vids from low carb cruises.

Kallo organic stock cubes are really tasty, and come in lots of flavours. They're on offer in lots of supermarkets at the moment 2 for £3

The cheapest way to make stock is to follow a recipe and use bones and vegetables, then once reduced down, cool quickly and freeze. If you use a large plastic ice cream tub, you can just peel the lid off and use an ice cream scoop to remove some for a mug and microwave or heat on hob.

Hi celeriac.

The 2 for £3 is more up my street I think, the bones and stuff sounds like to much hard work. Haha
I'll defo look into the book and I'll watch the videos. Is one cube enough to last your salt intake all day.?
Can you also tell me, I take a a to z complete vitamin and mineral supplement would this be doing any good for me with anything I'm missing? Or is it a case of the do they don't they?
Thanks

I find one cube is enough yes but we're all individuals. I put salt on eggs too. There are 6 or 8 stock cubes in the box and they come in 6 or 8 depending on flavour. These include beef, chicken, vegetable, French onion, mushroom, and tomato and herb - not all stores have all flavours.

I prefer to get all my vitamins and minerals from my food, and some doctors recommend that. But other doctors do recommend supplements. I don't think it does any harm unless you have allergies or take too much, but I'd suggest talking to your GP. Some, like mine, will test your blood for deficiencies. You can get an appointment with an NHS dietician as well, but do bear in mind that they tend to be stuck in the mud on dietary advice re: low carb.

Great, I'll get them then, I think the multi I'll keep taking, im defo going to speak to my doctor, and get all my reading printed out so I have a base line to work from. I definitely want to nip this in the bud, the diet I'll stick to as I knew I had to loose a bit of weight, not a lot but a bit and keep it off, so all these tips from people help loads. I never knew about the salt and stuf, great help. Thanks

Just noticed that the Kallo stock cubes are £1 a box in Sainsbury's if that helps

@purp

Yes indeed that is for a day, unless you are a heavy user of salt in cooking or on your food, if you are then you should not need the top up
The increase in fluids should help with your headaches, whilst not unusual going through carb flu, if it persists then it is probably nothing to do with the reduction in carbs and you should get it checked out.
Do you monitor your bs? high bs's can cause headaches..

Hi Satindoll.

The doctor has refused a meter, however I am.just waiting on my own meter arriving, i think I've just missed it as I was at the physiotherapy, I've rearrange for delivery tomorrow.
I'm feeling a good bit better already and I missed breakfast and just made myself a bacon omelette with lots of salt in the eggs. I seem to be full all the time its a great feeling. Haha can't believe bacon omelette for lunch. I'm feeling a bit stiff and have some aches but I'm sure it will get worse before I start feeling 100%.

Yes that helps, sainsbury's is just up the road ill nip in on my way out tonight. Thanks

Yea i think it's just a shower and fresh air for the moment that's doing that, I can still feel it in my bones and I'll keep going.
Have a wonderful day satindoll.

Hi purp,

Lets be honest there will be times when you will think "Why the hell am I doing this" , "Its too hard", "I can't stand it anymore", and those are the times your resolve will be tested to the limit, carbs don't give in easy and they will try your patience, they know if you give in you are back to being their slave,
If you have a sweet tooth then a bit of 85% dark chocolate will cover the craving, yes it is an acquired taste but 1 square will satisfy, or if you are a savoury person a knob of cheese, a few olives or nuts will do the same thing.
Its not going to be easy, but be strong, hold onto your resolve and you will reap the benefits with lower sugars, and hopefully lose the weight with all the benefits that can bring too.
Always someone here to help, no matter the hour or the day/night.

Hey Satindoll,

Great thanks, im under no illusions. I know this will be hard I do not eats sweets or chocolate, i do love my sweet coffee and i near fell at the first hurdle early this morning. " craved some bread for some reason" thinking sod this, I'm feeling terrible but I never it's just a case of as you say "being strong" if I want the good glucose levels and the less weight them it's something you grit my teeth and just do it. I have a lot of admiration for all of people that have done this and coped as best you can with diabetes it's a hard illness on people.
I love the fact that I can just go online and if I have a problem talk it out with someone and they can give you some good solid advise/help.
Thanks

Hi @purp

Hope you are having a better day, whilst I'm not on all the time you can tag me and if I'm about i'll come back to you, presuming you know how to tag, if not then do @ with the name of the person you want, a drop down box will appear as you type then its a case of picking the picture next to the name you want, click on the picture and done, it should show up red after posting.
Keep strong, take care.

Hi satindoll, good morning I'm just having scrambled egg with full fat cheese. Mmmmmm lol lots of salt and feeling much better today, got a sleep last night. I have a sweet taste in my mouth since early this morning, im not hungry at all but I'm forcing myself to eat asy stomach is rumbling but not hungry. I tries to tag but it just sent it to you. Haha lol 47 and computer illiterate. Haha Hope your having a good day.

Hi all,

Well, it's still all going very good. I had to put some extra holes in my belt today. The bloated feeling I had is gone and the only thing I feel is a sort of cramp in my calf's. I still have that sweet taste in my mouth but apart from that I feel so much better now, headache gone stomach cramps are gone and overall I'm feeling pretty good. I have had a look at the some of the links and its all very helpful. My extra strips and lancets arrived but no meter as yet. Hopefully today!!!
I have been very good on this diet, i feel full all the time so I try and miss out the odd meal and only eat when I start to feel hungry. I still have a slight craving for bread in the morning with breakfast but I just tool out all the bread in the house, so temptation is nit a problem. I'm loving the non bloated feeling it's wonderful. I don't have scales in the house as that would depress me if I never saw any weight loss. I know I'm loosing it by my cloths and thats good enough for me.
I hope you all have a great day.

Just seen you about, seems strange it didn't register as a tag, but never mind, so glad you are feeling better.
The sweet taste should go, I had it for a couple of days, you must eat and not because your hungry because that's when we tend to pig out and it undoes all the good stuff we've struggled to do.
The cramps is your muscle's complaining they have to work harder for their glucose, that too should pass , if on the off chance it persists do tell your Dr and keep up with the extra salt and fluids, well done you, so well done you.
With your determination you will get to the place you want to be, if I may one word of caution, this is a stroll not a sprint so slow but sure is the way, and you should avoid the pitfall of burnout.
Take care, stay strong.

Hey Satindoll,

Feel great, I've just had lunch of steak square sausage, bacon and some tomatoes. Mmmm it's so much fun this. Yes I can see how you say the long run but the only thing that's bothering me at the moment is the rumbling tummy no matter how much I eat. The cramps in the calf were during the night while sleeping ( lot better) and when I woke up but only for a short time. They seem ok this afternoon.
I saw a post from a guy who was lime me and I just wanted to tell him how my experiences are going as he seemed quite similar to me.
Satindoll please excuse my spelling as I'm doing this on my mobile phone ( dam these fat fingers lol.) everything is going good and I'm feeling really great at the moment. I'm out with my friends on Saturday for some lunch so that will be a tester but I'm sure I'll be fine.
Hope you have a great day.

All sounding good on the grub front, the tum is used to havening X amount of food, now because your eating more protein and fat it gets fuller quicker and then a few hours later complains it didn't get the usual amount, this too will pass as your stomach shrinks.
Its so useful when a person like yourself at the start of the journey can offer help to another beginner, its fine old timers like us saying stuff, but it really helps the newbies hearing from someone who is a few steps ahead of themselves on the ladder.
Have a good time with your friends, if you have naughties then as long as you don't over do it , shouldn't be a problem, enjoy.

Haha " you pro's " old timers Haha your- nick name will be "yoda" satindoll. Lol have a great weekend. I'll let you know how I do but I'm sure I'll be fine.
