Just had first reults back last week since my initial diagnosis as T2 2 months ago.

Reading was 7.2

Doc said (from previous blood tests for other issues) I was 8.4

Told this was "quite good" but should aim for below 7.

Gonna be difficult but I'll try!

Just thought you'd like to know :)

Well done :D, its in the right direction, keep it up, I was told seven was the magic number 8)

Heading in the right direction DD! :)

Well done DD, just keep chipping away and you'll get under 7 :D

Well done DD - going in the right direction is always a positive :) - you say its only been a couple of months since you were diagnosed so it is possible your second test still covers 3 or 4 weeks of your undiagnosed period so it may be that getting below the 7 will be easier than you thought! :D

I was diagnosed with 11.9 then went to 7.4 now at 6.1 18 months in so it is very doable and I know you can do it!

DD that's excellent progress. Mine was 10.4 on diagnosis 18 months ago and I have been consistently in the 5% club for over 12 months now.(5.4% 6 monthly check this week).
If you are not on insulin, my advice would be to see how low you can go and when you achieve a steady state, then strive to stay there.

All the best - Steve

Non diabetic Hba1cs average 5.1%, so many must be below that.
Surely that is the logical target.
I missed it this time at 5.6%, but I know where I'm aiming and have been in the 5s for the last year and only 1 of 6.2 in the last 3 years.

After a recent visit to my GP my result was 6.2. It seems these figures to aim for are fluidly connected to ongoing research in the background. On my DESMOND course in June 2009 I was told to aim for 6.5. There is a cohort study of some repute, out now, that may prompt a revision upwards into the sevens, if you are on Metformin. Not all GPs keep up to speed with their background reading. I have had my Metformin reduced to 1 a day just before xmas!!!! I will use my One Touch to keep a variable check. Probably take 2 a day over Xmas!!! Plenty in hand. Nothing is set in tablets of stone in medicine. Look how far we have come over last 50 years.

Well done DD. Like you, I was only diagnosed a short time ago and I struggled to get my BS down below 10, which is the target my GP set for me. Ended up on 3 x 500mg Metform and 2 x Gliclazide a day and have managed to get good consistent results below 10, some as low as 5's and 6's. I've recently been for my HBA1c, and due to get results on Monday.
