Why is it that before I go bed my readings are fine then after my night insulin when I’m getting up they are higher then after taking morning insulin for my breakfast with a little extra to try bring it down it goes even higher again,it’s only just started doing this, anyone with a possible reason.

Hi @EdselLopez and welcome to the forums.

Can I ask what type of diabetes you have? How long have you been on insulin?

A lot of people experience something called the dawn phenomena where their livers pump out sugar first thing in the morning.

Others go hypo at night and get a rebound high in the morning and there are probably other causes out there.

Personally I find that I have to inject bolus in the morning even if I don't eat at all, so you certainly aren't alone with this issue.

Hi @EdselLopez , it takes time to find the right dose of insulin. Are you having regular contact with your diabetes nurse to talk about how to adjust your doses?
