My libre 2 is dead - long live the libre

so my 10 day old libre suddenly stopped working this afternoon.
Straight into the phone to Abbott and another is on its way to me - hurrah

But
A) does this mean my new libre will last a full 14 days (assuming it stays working) so I thereby gain 10 days unpaid for ?
B) I have a spare one handy any way. If I put it on immediately the faulty one comes off do I need to leave it the usual 48 hours to activate it I allow between my intermittent libre sessions, or because my body is used to its foreign object will I get more accurate readings sooner?

Bit peeved as I wanted one on for my second covid jab tomorrow morning

Yep, the new one will last its full 14 days so you get that 10 days free that you've already used

For those that need it to bed in it will still take some bedding in before its gains it accuracy (would be the time time as normal for said person, you in this case), I tended to only put one in about 24 hours before using anyways, it'll depend how I was feeling as to whether I let it bed it for another 24 hours or not, if I didn't I knew it may not be quite correct though for the first day

thank you.
Can always trust this forum for a prompt and reliable reply :)

I would give Libre 1 a day to bed in.
However, I find Libre 2 a bit of a “late riser” and it needs longer to bed in so, like the IP, I give Libre 2 a couple of days before activating.
And, as it is a new sensor, usually in a different arm, it needs the full 2 days for itself. My body treats all foreign objects as new things to familiarise itself with.

Ah, fair enough, I never got onto the Libre 2 so didn't know that

Hi,

Interesting, my experience I agree the old L1 could be scatty for the first 2 hours with the odd sensor. & end of life too. (We're talking star constellations on the graph.)

The L2 for me is good from the get go..

During my prep for work this morning, I'll slap another one on & I'll fire it up in a couple of hours.
(Keeping an eye out using the meter.)

@MrsA2 , you will get a brand spanking new sensor to use for 14 daze.. :)

Thats why I decided to put one on last night and activate it this morning as I really wanted to monitor the effect of covid jab2. I hadn't wanted to waste a day's money if it went all erratic, but with the 'free' days I took the chance.
So far it seems fine.
My first ever libre was all over the place the first 24 hours, kept setting off low alarms through the night. Either I'm more used to them now or this one just works better.
Either way I'm a happy bunny

My first trial libre died after 10 days, the second fell off after 4 days, both replaced no questions. I have had another two last 10 days....I think from the same batch, again replaced no questions. I have also had the most recent 3 go the full 14 days with no problems. But basically I have gained an extra 34 days worth over £100!
