Hi im 5 weeks through the diet now and did just only find it hard the first week or 2 but now Im in the rhythm of it and doing ok, like your self I found no side effects other than hunger in the early stages, I originally purchased a 2 month supply of optislim but I purchased another 2 month supply to take the diet over 4 months just to lose that little bit of extra fat/weight my perfect BMI means I should lose another 21lbs to get into the normal range for my size and hopefully turn my diabetese around in reverse or atleast stablise my BGs, so far Im very pleased with the results but think I need to extend it beyond 8 weeks just wont be enough to acheive my goals. I got a letter from my HCP requiring my attendance for a chat due to my Hbac1 being high and my last one 3 months ago and over the past year I know the recent one was savagely high the reason for the chat , what a supprise she will get when i go in 2 weeks time. Re bread Ive just purchased a bread maker and going to do lo cal lo carb breads myself

Hi thanks for the comments.

I have edited my peice very slightly to show the links to my references.

I am interested in the Lo Cal Lo Carb bread. My brother and I are experimenting with a bread maker at the moment and would like to try it.

Regards, Brian

One pound is still a step in the right direction and look at those 2 hours after eating readings- that's brilliant, less than before food.

I wondered when you do your FBG ? I found mine became really stable when I started keeping the kit by the bed and testing before I got up, presumably because the body hasn't had time to start firing on all cylinders. Can be a bit hit and miss- wasted a few strips because I wasn't focussing properly- still half asleep!

Oddly enough Im awake anywhere from 2 to 6 in the morning and i dont test when i wake up normally just before my first shake of the day which is 08:00. Ive been told do it on waking I know about the dawn phoenomen liver dump etc but really its my post meals or shakes Im intrested in maybe if i took them on waking they most likely be in the late 4s ill try it tomorrow on waking and see what they are and class that as my fbg maybe at 08:00 its really my pre meal count but been classing them as Fasting

Technically you're right of course- you haven't eaten so it is a fasting test. Just what I'll get when I go to the gp next week for a fasting test at 10.30! I just found it useful to have a baseline figure that was unaffected by something as unpredictable as the dawn phenomenon. Encouraging too when it became stable- more so now when I'm eating different things- pre and post meals may be odd but FBG and bedtime readings seem to all be consistent - so far!
